On August 15, 2018 Salesian College, Siliguri Campus, celebrated Independence Day in the college ground. The event started with hoisting of the National Flag at 8:00 am by the chief guest, Fr. (Dr) Mathew Pulingathil, Rector, Salesian College, Siliguri Campus, followed by national anthem along with musical accompaniment of Fr. (Dr) James Chacko. Fr. (Dr) George Chempakathinal, Vice Principal, was present along with faculty members. A speech was read by Riya Agarwal of B.Com first year. This was followed by a patriotic song sung by Sourav Agarwal of B.Com, second year. Samridha Gupta of the Department of English and member of the Pianazzi Literary Society recited a short poem. The next event was a drill by NCC cadets. Post the drill, the investiture ceremony for the newly elected class representatives and office bearers took place. Fr. Dr. George Chempakathinal, Vice Principal hoisted the College Flag and Fr. Rector, lead the leaders into the oath taking ceremony. The above mentioned students were presented with appointment letters which contained a list of their responsibilities. The class representatives were also presented with badges by the respective Heads of Departments. Fr. Rector presented badges to the office bearers along with Khadas. The vote of thanks was presented by Vaibhav Agarwal , President Student Council. The event closed with photograph of the newly elected members of the student body along with Fr. Rector and the campus co-ordinators.
